Music Composition Class for Tweens: Write Your Own Song

The library is partnering with the Aurora Institute for the Arts to offer this four-week composition class for homeschool students ages 8-12. The instructors will help you create and write your own song just like a composer! Everyone who attends will learn how to read and write music on a musical staff. You will get an opportunity to write your own song and determine how you want it to sound and what instrument your song is for. Learn important musical terms like composer, composition, notation, and the names of rhythms and notes and how to identify them on a page. The instructors will teach you how to draw all the symbols needed to create a song and the tools to make a unique tune that you can call your own. This class will give everyone the opportunity to name their song as well as get a recording of their song sent home with the written piece.

Registration is required as space is limited. Please call the library at 920-788-7515 to register.
