Library Cards

How do I obtain a library card?

To obtain a library card, please ask for an application at the front desk. A driver’s license (preferred) or other form of photo ID with your name and current address on it must be shown at the time of application. If you are new to the area and do not have a current ID, bring a piece of official mail (electric bill, phone bill, etc.) to the library, along with your ID.

The library requires that a parent or legal guardian must sign the application form in person for their children who are under the age of 16. There is no charge to obtain a library card.

Do I have to live in Kimberly to get a library card?

You do not need to live in Kimberly to get a library card. All residents of WI are eligible for library cards.

What if my library card is lost?

If your library card is lost, a new card will be issued to you. Your first replacement card is free. Subsequent new cards will cost $3.00. Please notify us as soon as you realize that your card is lost so we can cancel it and prevent unauthorized use.

How do I renew my library card?

Give us a call at 788-7515 and we can renew your card after verifying your demographic information or stop by the desk.

May I use my library card at other libraries?

Your library card may be used at any InfoSoup library. A library card from another InfoSoup library can also be used at the Kimberly Public Library. Follow this link to view a list of member libraries: https://infosoup.org/libraries

Are there fines for overdue items?

No, the Kimberly Public Library is fine free.

How many items may I check out?

You may check out up to 150 items on your library card, however, this can only include 75 media items.

How long can I keep items I checked out?

  • Book and Audiobooks: 28 days
  • New books: 14-28 days
  • Magazines: 14 days
  • Music CDs: 14 days
  • DVDs: 7-14 days
  • Videogames: 7-14 days

Can I return books belonging to other libraries at the Kimberly Library?

You may return books from other Outagamie Waupaca Library System (OWLS) and Nicolet Federated Library System member libraries at the Kimberly Public Library. Some of these libraries include the Appleton, Hortonville, Kaukauna, and Little Chute Public Libraries. Kimberly Public Library books may be returned at any of those locations, as well.

Can I be put on a waiting list if something I want is checked out?

You can place holds at the library or while using the library’s online catalog. You may also call 788-7515, and we will place a hold for you. To place a hold on an item you’ve found follow the steps in this video: https://youtu.be/YUfLQgC_ZLs

If I would like an item that is owned by another library, how do I get it?

If the item you would like appears in our online catalog, you may place a hold on it. The item will then be sent to the Kimberly Public Library for you. If the item does not appear in our catalog, you may request that the item be ordered through Interlibrary Loan. Stop at the desk or call 788-7515 for assistance.

Does the library have computers with access to the internet?

The Kimberly Public Library does have computers with internet access and provides free Wi-Fi. In addition, each Internet computer has access to Microsoft Office programs. Black & white copies cost 25 cents per page and color copies are 50 cents per page when printed copies are needed. The library also has hot spots for lending.

Is there any equipment for public use?

We have a color photocopier available for public use. Copy fees are $.25 per page for black & white and $.50 per page for color. This copier can also be used as a scanner for no fees. Staff can fax documents at the library. Fax fees are $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for every page after.

Can I use my library card to check out ebooks?

Yes! The Kimberly Public Library offers access to electronic books and downloadable audiobooks through Overdrive and Tumblebooks. All services may be accessed online by following the link to digital materials at www.kimberlypubliclibrary.org. Overdrive may also be accessed through an app called Libby.
